Designing a home’s interior is a beautiful, functional, sensory 3D puzzle that gets resolved through the relationship between the client and the designer, and what each bring to the project.
I work with clients who are building a new home or renovating an existing one to better meet their needs. I offer interior design and decorating services, and I specialize in kitchen and bath design.
I have worked on a wide range of projects and budgets, from economical rental suites to expansive new home projects with multiple home theatres. The scope of a project, big or small, is interesting but is always secondary to the opportunity to build a relationship with a client, find out what is important to them, and then work together to accomplish it. This is fun!
BUILDERS & DESIGNERS
I work regularly with a number of builders on their own spec projects, or with their clients. On some of these projects I do just the cabinetry, and on others provide interior design services. I really enjoy having the mix of project types in my schedule.
I also work with interior designers, providing the cabinetry work for their projects and their clients. Before I begin, I discuss the parameters of my client contact with each designer. Some prefer to maintain primary client contact throughout the job, and others have completed their contribution to the project by the time they send me their design drawings.
“We worked with Diane to renovate our kitchen, laundry room, dining and living room. We gave Diane a picture of a living room and told her we liked the ‘look and feeling’, but when we looked at each piece in the picture we really didn’t care for anything! Diane, with her amazing skill, helped us create a similar look but with furniture we love! Our kitchen and laundry room turned out beautiful, and any minor problems that arose Diane was right there making things go smoothly. We would definitely work with Diane again and again!”− Louise B., White Rock
“With the purchase of our home, we had a large renovation to do which included both bathrooms, kitchen and all flooring. We had never done major renovations before so were really nervous about going ahead with it on our own and Diane was recommended to us. She was a delight to work with and soon understood who we were and what we were wanting to accomplish. Diane made us feel comfortable and helped us make our decisions on everything. Her excitement for our new kitchen was contagious and my fear soon turned to join her with the excitement. Diane was very up to date with the trends of today and informed me in a very gentle way that something that I was thinking of was from the 80’s and that I should maybe rethink that area. So glad she was bold enough to redirect me. We had picked a backsplash that was OK but not a wow look and Diane was able to come in one day with a new sample that gave us the wow we were wanting. I really appreciated her guiding us in the right direction. Diane was great at communicating every step of our renovations and everything came in on time. We also did not feel pressure from her to make any decisions; we were in the driver’s seat at all times.
As we have finished our home, I feel that I have a new friend in Diane and I would highly recommend Diane as a designer.”− Sue G., Tsawwassen
“Diane Moorhouse designed our kitchen/dining area, ensuite bath, and family/bar room. She provided excellent service and product. We hired the general contractor that Diane recommended and were very pleased with the result. Diane took the time to design different configurations depending on the floor layout we chose. We were making significant changes to our space (moving walls etc.). Diane gave various options and explained each as well as the cost associated. She made herself available and was very professional. Any issues were promptly dealt with. We like to do entertaining and people often comment on how nice our home looks now. I would not hesitate to recommend Diane and would work with her again.”− Michele Berg, South Surrey
“We have worked with Diane from SunHouse Designs on two occasions. She guided us through the remodelling of our bathrooms, choice of flooring for the entire house, designed a new fireplace mantle piece, and helped with paint colour choices. She is very efficient and meticulous. She understood what we wanted perfectly, and never failed to steer us in the right direction. We were extremely pleased with the outcome. Recently, we worked with Diane to remodel our kitchen countertops, sink, faucets and backsplash. Everything turned out perfectly. Diane even met with us to check the layout of the pieces for the backsplash. Her attention to detail gave us exactly what we were looking for. We would not hesitate to work with her again in the future.”− Mary K., South Surrey
Le Corbusier was one of the pioneers of Modern architecture at the beginning of the last century, famous for his open plans and clean, geometric designs. One of his best-known quotes is “a house is a machine for living”.
I moved around a lot as a kid. We lived in 10 different places by the time I started university, including a year in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. That was pretty cool. I loved that no matter where we were my parents always made our house feel like our home.
Something I never tire of telling people, clients, friends … is how great the people I work with are. I’ve worked with many different groups of people through the course of my career and there are always some great ones that stand out from the crowd. At Armadio Kitchen and Bath the whole group is fantastic!
